Saving the World

A lot of you may have had about enough of me and the whole Pay Attention thing. I’m honestly not trying to pull off some branding thing. I truly believe that your attention is indeed where your power lies. Today, that power has been monetized and there are attention traps all around where various companies hope to catch it and get paid for doing so. I would like to make clear that all the exercises and practices I promote for people to take control of this power are not just about increasing your focus. I believe that if we all learn to Pay Attention it will save the world.

Attention should, inevitably, lead to Awareness. In true Awareness we see the indivisibility of all Life. Everything is connected. From the Awareness of the complexity and inter-relatedness of all things a Respect will grow. This Respect will lead us to see the value of absolutely everything and everyone. We will inherently have a desire to see things used properly, without waste or destruction and realize we are partnered with all people.
I know on Twitter I can be quite forceful in my insistence that people read the truths about the Environment and issues facing Indigenous People. I’m hoping you realize how redundant it is for me to say these issues are related when I’ve already stated that everything is connected, but these two things stand out starkly in a landscape of frivolity. These are truly the most important places for our Attention. When we move along the path of Attention to Awareness to Respect we rid ourselves of unmindful acts that speak to an indifference to the value of all things and beings. This is an indifference that is born of a society that sees itself as separate from a world of random occurrences and chaos. Most of our lives are ridiculously busy and that indifference to what really matters grows as we struggle with what we believe to be surviving. The nature of the two issues that I speak so much about put survival in a truer light with far more profound consequences that we all need to comprehend. I make no apologies for the forceful nature with which I insist that you be informed and travel a path away from indifference to one of Respect. I feel I would be negligent if I was not so forceful in providing opportunities to help where ever I can to rid the world of this indifference that steals the birthright of all beings to be Happy. It will require work on everyone’s part. And yes, I truly believe it will save the world.
