September is such a wonderful time for new beginnings. I know that a lot of you reading this will be leaders in those new beginnings. So, if you will indulge me... I have a few thoughts I'll but out there as to what it means to be a leader. What most people don't realize is that leaders are dealers.

Yes, a leader is a dealer in hope.

This is so because no matter what our attempts to inform, it is our ability to inspire that will turn the tide.

What does that look like?

In speech and silence, in what is done and what is not done, a leader will not deceive people outwardly, and will not deceive their own mind within.

So, a leader is often not needed to create orders and instructions...

but to create the silence needed so those with the knowledge may be heard.

A leader is never concerned with fame… and their power is never used for their own gains because…

Leadership is the wise use of power.

Real Power is the capacity to translate intention into reality and sustain it.

…because a leader is a dealer in hope.

Good leaders make the mind of the team their mind, and never let their minds indulge in private prejudices. They make the eyes and ears of the team their eyes and ears, and never let their eyes and ears be partial.

So a leader learns that what can be said but not practiced is better not said and what can be practiced but not spoken of, is better not done.

A leader knows that having many difficulties perfects the will, having no difficulties ruins the being. Success and winning are the edge of failure and loss and loss is the heart of victory.

…because a leader is a dealer in hope.

So lead on and be amazing.
